The Art of Parenting: Raising a healthy child in a hectic world
Our society tells us that we cannot drive a car without taking driving lessons and getting a license. Yet when it comes to raising a child there are no defining rules or guidelines. There is no course, no instruction manual to be a parent. Yet, being a parent is likely the most important responsibility and challenge of our life.
In this lecture, you will learn several practical parenting techniques that will support you in your role as a parent. Here are some of the topics covered:
- How to talk so that your child listens and how to listen so your child talks
- Learn the keys to building a child's self-esteem.
- Understand the three basic emotional needs of your child
- Teach your child self-control
- Understand when to reward & when to consequence
- Learn how to play with your child
- Learn to keep your cool when your child misbehaves
- Establish boundaries that your child will want to respect
Being a parent can be stressful at times. Nevertheless, as parents we have a choice to let the stress get the better of us or choose to look at the stress as an opportunity to learn about ourselves and teach healthy coping skills to our children. Your challenge is to look at life as a game that you can have fun exploring with your child. Are you game?
This lecture is open to all parents and parents-to-be.
