Approach
Mindful movement is a synthesis of Mind/Body/Spirit modalities personally created by Kit to reflect her approach to healing. Alexander Technique has been recognized by the British Medical Association to have long-term benefits for patients with chronic back pain therapy. It is taught in music and theater schools around the world as it is known to help performers reduce injuries while improving their ability to perform. Sportspeople use it to improve their flexibility and balance, and it can be helpful in rehabilitation after surgery, managing pain and developing coping skills for chronic illness and disabilities.
Mindful movement includes mindfulness and movement studies that will support you in making your life more comfortable and thus more rewarding.
Procedure
Mindful Movement is about you as an individual. It is an opportunity to learn about yourself and how your current situation came about. Lessons start with what you are aware of right now – What hurts, what limits your normal activities, when you become over-tired or stressed. You will become aware of the way you "use" your body in your every day life and with this awareness you will be gently guided to re-find the once instinctive good habits of body movement of childhood. With Mindful Movement you will learn practical ways to move that do not result in pain and fatigue, ways to cope with pain and other stresses that limit your enjoyment of life, and most importantly, you will learn how YOU can fix yourself!
Personal
After years of studying, training, and living abroad, Kit is delighted to be back home in Montreal at last. Mindful Movement has grown out of her own desire to live life to the fullest with the greatest of ease.
