WEIGHT MANAGEMENT SEMINARS
April 7 - The Real Meaning Behind a Balanced Diet
Did you ever stop to ask yourself what a balanced diet consists of? Does it mean eating highly processed foods? Is it low in carbohydrates and high in protein? Or low in fat?
In this seminar we will explore the basic principles behind the concept of a balanced diet. We will look at the current basic daily recommend intakes of various nutrients and translate that into a workable guide. We will learn how to evaluate a food on a sliding scale, so that we can make mindful food choices. Good and bad foods will become a thing of the past, as each food is evaluated not only on the basis of its nutritional value, but also on taste and texture.
April 14 - The Impact of Stress on Weight
Have you ever noticed that you have a more difficult time losing weight when you're stressed? Most of the time, we associate stress only with emotional eating.
There are several ways that stress can contribute to weight. Yes, one of them relates to overeating or binging as a coping mechanism. If that isn't bad enough, stress digs its claws on a physical level as well. This seminar will also show you how chronic stress and the stress-related hormone cortisol also has major negative effects on your metabolism, abdominal fat, blood sugar and more.
